Carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning your carpet somewhere between every 6 – 18 months depending on how heavily used the room is.  I some homes, there may even be 2 or 3 areas that may need to be cleaned more often than every 6 months.  Family rooms, hallways and in home offices are most common.  There are also rooms you can go years between cleaning like the formal living or dining rooms or guest bedrooms.
